Edwin Earl Roth
1925-2018
Edwin "Ed" Earl Roth, a longtime resident of Edmond, traded his earthly body for a glorified one January 15, 2018. He was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma August 26, 1925. He was a member of the downtown Edmond business community for 35 years, working at and then owning Central Auto Parts (NAPA). He chose to be on call 24/7 to meet the needs of those traveling Route 66 or the local resident who needed a functioning vehicle. Many nights he arose from his bed to go unlock his store to get the right part so they could be on their way. If there is such a thing, he was generous "literally" to a fault. He met many needs of others. His business was a true ministry. Ed and his twin brother joined the navy in August of 1943. Due to the Sullivan brothers they were not allowed to serve together. Daddy loved his country and counted it a privilege to serve.
Ed is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Opal Marie Brown, a baby daughter Brenda Jean, his parents Edward and Della Reed Roth, his twin Edward William, a sister Charnella Ruth Lackey, several nieces and nephews. He is survived by his daughters all of Edmond, Faye Maria "Sissy" Smith, Edwina "Wina" Pruett and her husband Donnie, Marsha Kaye (Roth) Mount, grandchildren Joshua Smith, Jeremy Smith, Leah Duke, Gabriel Pruett, greats, Hunter and Fisher Smith, Abigail and Olive Smith, Avery, Marlee and Blakely Duke, Judd and Jack Pruett. Nieces, nephews and many great nieces and nephews. Dad has been under the care of Edmond Health Care. The staff called Daddy their "Papa" and "Big Daddy". They loved him so much.
Public visitation will be Wednesday, January 17, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family receiving friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Interment will take place at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Memorial Park Cemetery with a celebration of life service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel.
