Elizabeth Anne Sams
1934 – 2016
Elizabeth Anne Sams, 82, of San Antonio, TX went to be with our Lord on August 24, 2016 in Edmond, OK. She passed away peacefully in her sleep.
Born in Statesville, NC on July 12, 1934 to Eugene and Helen Scruggs, "Anne" graduated from Harry P. Harding High School in June 1952 and attended the University of North Carolina for 4 years majoring in Music. She was a very talented Violinist and performed with the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra.
She was married to the Love of her life for 57 years, Edward Eugene Sams on January 1, 1956.
When "Gene" retired from the military they made their permanent home in San Antonio, TX. Anne taught 2 nd & 3 rd grades at Winston Elementary School and was the Registrar at Edgewood High School and John Jay High School. She went on the become the Registrar of Student records for the Northside School District for 20 years before retiring due to health reasons.
Anne was devoted to her career as she was devoted to her family. She took care of Gene for 15 years before his passing in 2013 from Dementia.
She is survived by her son Edward E Sams Jr; daughter Cynthia S. Mutz and husband Charles; grandsons Gilbert E. Sams and wife Rikki; Jonathan M. Sams and wife Rosie; great grandson Gage Sams and great granddaughters Bella, Abriella and Angelina Sams.
