Elvis Dean Snodgrass
1926 – 2019
Elvis Dean Snodgrass passed away December 19, in his sleep, at home in Edmond. He has just celebrated his 93 rd birthday. He was born to James and Bessie Snodgrass in Blair, OK on December 3, 1926. The son of a sharecropper, he attended Blair schools, excelling on the high school basketball team. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with an MS in geology. While at OU he met Dorothy Gene Clarke. They fell in love and were married June 1, 1947 in Norman. While serving the Army Air Corps he was stationed in Brazil. During his professional career he worked for Ashland Oil Company and Southland Royalty. Elvis was married to his loving wife Gene for 60 years. They had two children, Priscilla Mae and Dean Ross. After Gene passed away in 2008, he married Patricia Woodward. They were married for 10 years and she was his companion and caregiver during that time. He loved OU football, working in his yard, playing bridge, and fishing in Creede, CO every summer. He especially loved seeing his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Gene, a brother Afton Snodgrass, and sisters Julia Ducceschi and LoEva Mason. He is survived by his wife Pat of the home, daughter Priscilla Chastain (Steve) of OKC, son Dean Snodgrass (Terry) of Guthrie, 6 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. Viewing will be 2:00 – 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, December 22 at Matthews Funeral Home, 601 S. Kelly Ave, Edmond. His funeral will be Monday, December 23 at 2:00 P.M. also at Matthews Funeral Home.
