Evelyn Mae Pace, 98, died peacefully November 6, 2021, at Bradford Village Healthcare Center. She was born October 4, 1923 in Beaumont, Texas, the daughter of Alvin V. Eckert and Gladys A. Lisbony.

Evelyn attended Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School in Beaumont, Texas. During World War II, she worked as a butcher in her uncle's butcher shop before beginning a career in the Jefferson County Clerk's Office and eventually retiring as an Assistant County Auditor in the Jefferson County Auditor's Office. In 1956, Evelyn married Clifton Pace; they celebrated 35 years of marriage before Clifton passed in 1991. Evelyn was a devout member of the Lutheran Church and in the later years of her life enjoyed spending time with her two great granddaughters and going out to the casino with friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Clifton Pace and brother Alvin Eckert II.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Donna Bass, and husband David; granddaughter, Courtney Harlin, and husband Timothy; great granddaughters, Oakley and Sutton; niece, Vickie Ladner and nephew, Alvin Eckert III; and great nieces, Misti Simms, Mondie McFandin and great nephew, Kent Ladner.

Visitation will be held at Matthews Funeral Home, 601 S. Kelly Ave., Edmond, Oklahoma from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 11, 2021. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 12, 2021, also at Matthews Funeral Home, followed by interment at Gracelawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Association.
