Roger was born on October 10, 1934, in Charleston, West Virginia to Lena Mae Stover. He attended and graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School. He excelled in his education and in football and track and was all star athlete. Upon graduation, Roger ended up entering the Navy where he played football while in the service. After serving his country, he went onto Marshall University, where he graduated with a degree in geological engineering! He met the love of his life, Martha Ann Robinson and were married August 1, 1958. They had two children, Steven Forest and Wendy Tully. They moved back to Charleston where he worked at Michael Baker, a civil engineering firm. After gaining experience at Michael Baker, Roger was employed by Cities Service Oil Company. This is where his job at Cities Service would take his family far away from Charleston, West Virginia. His career would move him to Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Houston, Texas, Morris Plains, New Jersey, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jackson, Mississippi, and lastly Edmond, Oklahoma. Sadly, after moving to Edmond, their son, Steven, would pass away. It was devastating to our family and still leaves an empty hole in our hearts.

He retired from Cities Service Oil Co and started his own company, Stover Oil Company where he was able to excel as an independent oil man. Upon retiring, Roger and his wife, Martha would travel a great deal to Beaver’s Bend, Oklahoma where they met many new friends and would spend a month out of the year and Christmas with their newfound friends. It was their home away from home.

He enjoyed golfing with his many friends at Kickingbird Golf Course and was also an avid runner. He had made many new friends at Kickingbird and was successful in golfing tournaments. He played in couples’ tournament with his daughter Wendy where they teamed up to have a fabulous time and with a few wins and Roger was able to win a few sets of golf clubs.

Roger was a very dedicated and loving husband and took pride in taking care of Martha until she passed away, leaving a huge hole in our hearts. She was the life of the party but was the last one to get a joke. Being the matriarch, Roger and Wendy were a little lost on how to live without Mom. We we both found a way too, keep her in our hearts, knowing that we would see her again someday.

Roger then moved to Touchmark, a retirement community in Edmond with his faithful companion, Zoie. They excelled in making new friends and having a wonderful time in the Touchmark Community.

His family and friends will find it hard to move on without Roger, but we know he will be our guardian angel watching over our family and friends. I know he is happy to see Martha and Steve and the rest of our family who has left to soon. Rest in Peace…Dad, you so deserve it! Hugs and prayers till we see you again.
