Franklin Joe Pavel, 76, of Edmond, Oklahoma, previously of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed from this life on July 11 th , 2014.  He was born in Crete, Nebraska to Joseph and Sadie (Chrastil) Pavel.

Franklin had a long and successful career in the insurance industry including Vice President of Underwriting at Midwest Life of Nebraska in Lincoln, and Standard Life and Accident in Oklahoma City.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Verneta Pavel; son, Theron Pavel; daughter, Therine (Todd) Nelson and their mother Irma Pavel, of Lincoln Nebraska. Franklin was also a parent to Loren Wickstrom (Dickinson, ND), Dale Gribble (Kansas City, MO), Anita Brumley (Edmond OK), Curtis Gribble (Dallas TX) and Tiffany (Jason) Smith (Edmond OK).  He also leaves behind 12 precious grandchildren; a brother, Leland (Dorothy) Pavel (Lincoln NE); a brother-in-law, Stan Loibl (Houston TX); nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Evelyn Loibl.

He was a member of the Sesostris Shrine in Lincoln for 50 years including scooter and motorcycle units.  He was a former member of the Nebraska Air National Guard.  He enjoyed traveling coast to coast with his Rhodesian Ridgeback show dogs. He also enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, Nebraska football and most of all, spending time with his family.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 15 th , 2014, at Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond, Oklahoma, from 12 noon – 8 pm, with family present from 6 pm – 8 pm.  Funeral services will be 10 am on Wednesday, July 16 th , 2014, at New Covenant Methodist Church in Edmond, Oklahoma.
