Gary Owen Boatman

d. July 19, 2025

Husband, father, brother, uncle, friend. These are but a few of the roles Gary cherished as he lived a full and blessed life. He loved without limits! He loved his family with every cell of his being!

A fanatical OU football fan, his blood ran crimson and cream from a very young age when his dad took him to his first football game. He and his wife Tammy rarely missed a home game from the time he met her at OU during his Sophomore year! He loved OU!!

His love didn't stop with OU, he loved cycling, sailing, skiing, tinkering with his inherited 1966 Mustang (whose ownership has always remained in the family from the showroom floor…a fact he was very proud of shown by the license plate selected, "FAM DAY 1!!"). He loved to bar-b-que, striving for that perfect mixture of smoke and spices, an extension of his love for cooking.

He loved his Lord. He loved to laugh. He loved to listen. He was exceptionally great at providing guidance to fellow co-workers, friends, and family. He was practical, yet goofy, and rolled with what life offered.

Gary is survived by his wife Tammy of 42 years; son and daughter-in-law, Skylar and Brittney; daughter and son-in-law, Taylor and Cash; sister, Barbara; sister-in-law, Andrea; brother-in-law Tim and wife Robin; nephew Keaton and wife Michelle; and niece, Payton and fiancé Derek. And we can't forget Couper, his Irish-doodle and daily partner in crime!

He was a giant teddy bear of a man…kind, good, and well-loved. Boomer Sooner!!!

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, July 19,2025 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel, Edmond, Oklahoma.
