Gayle N. Bartholomew
1950-2021
On Tuesday, March 23 rd , 2021, Gayle Nadine (Percy) Bartholomew, passed away at her home in Edmond, OK, at the age of 70 after a long battle with cancer.
Born in Denver, Colorado, to Edward Ray and Grace Ethel Percy, Gayle attended school in Lakewood, Colorado. She was married on June 14, 1968 to David Bartholomew and the couple had three daughters. Over her lifetime, Gayle lived in both Texas and Oklahoma. She held various administrative positions for the City of Lawton, OSU Plant & Soil Sciences Department, the Oklahoma Water Board, and eventually retired in 2016 as a grants coordinator for the Oklahoma Secretary of the Environment.
Gayle will forever be remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother, a loyal friend, and a cheerful co-worker. She enjoyed spending time sharing good food and conversation with everyone, working in her craft room making cards, and cheering on the Thunder and the OSU Cowboys. She cared deeply about the world that her daughters and grandchildren will inherit by supporting efforts to protect the environment and advocate for women.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father. She is survived by her brother, Terry Ray Percy, and half-brother, Loyd Percy; her three daughters, Carla Rae Bartholomew, Caren Ruth Bartholomew, and Catherine René Hanson and husband, Kendall; five grandchildren, Brenna Dené Bartholomew and Alex William, Ryan Patrick, Cooper Ray, and Josh Parker Hanson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00AM on Tuesday, March 30 th , 2021 at Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond, Oklahoma, and she will be buried in Stillwater, Oklahoma, at a later date. Condolences may be sent to her home address: 3605 Steven Court, Edmond, OK, 73013. Donations in her honor may be made to the Oklahoma Foundation for the Disabled (OKFD).
