Gerald Thomas Skinner, a kind, loving and fiercely loyal husband, father, and friend passed away on November 15, 2025; at the age of 85 -- & a month away from celebrating his 63rd wedding anniversary.
Gerald was born in Omaha, Nebraska September 27, 1940 to James and Winifred (Peg) Skinner. He is now reunited with his mother, father, and older brother James (Jim) Skinner. He is survived by his wife Dorothy, his three children: Tommy (wife Hilary), Pegi, and Kari; eight grandsons, and two great grandchildren.
He was raised in Nebraska City and graduated from high school there in 1958. His pursuit of higher education took him to Southwestern State University in Weatherford, OK, where he was active in many aspects of campus life including President of the Baptist Student Union and a Member of the Phi Delta Chi Pharmacy Fraternity. Gerald graduated in 1963 with a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree. His broad knowledge base and attention to detail, along with his excellent communication, patience, and interpersonal skills helped him become THE pharmacist you wanted to see behind the counter! Over his 50-year pharmacy career,
Gerald had many patrons who chose to drive long distances to maintain their relationship with him as their trusted pharmacist and friend.
While attending First Baptist Church in Weatherford, Gerald met, dated for a year, and then on December 23,1962 married the love of his life, Dorothy Marie Brazil. She considered him to be her rock. Together, they raised three children: Gerald Thomas Skinner, Jr. (Tommy), of Manhattan Beach, CA; Pegi Lyn Seizinger of Tulsa, OK; and Kari Kay Brimacombe of Arlington, TX.
Gerald embraced and lived life with a gentle calmness and a joyful, positive outlook. He was a lover of people, of adventure and projects—and of course sweet treats! He was a true gentleman. His zest for enjoying time with many different people, exploring different activities and cultures, and trying new foods, led to a life of incredible travels as he visited every state west of the Mississippi (and many east of it) and enjoyed time in Germany, sailing the Caribbean, Paris, London, Italy, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia, Mexico, Canada, Hawaii, Tahiti, Alaska, and numerous cruises.
Gerald and Dorothy have been residents of Edmond since 1963. He was an active member at First Baptist Church in Edmond and really enjoyed the friendships he made there since 1971. A true renaissance man, Gerald was a snappy dresser and enjoyed a wide range of interests, from golfing, snow skiing, grilling, making amazing breakfasts every morning before school, landscaping, playing bridge, Bible study, entertaining, to most importantly spending time with family and friends. Family gatherings were filled with laughter and you could always count on Gerald to show up with excitement, a story, and a smile!
If you are reading this, Gerald would want you to know he sincerely cared about you. And he would remind you, as he reminded us in his last hours, to enjoy every sip out of life! And he would also want to thank you for coming and for your friendship to him and his family.
