Glenda Mardell Irvin

Aug 4, 1949 — May 21, 2026

Glenda Mardell Irvin of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma passed on to her heavenly reward on May 21st, 2026. Glenda was born August 4, 1949 to Carl & May Burnham in Iberia, Missouri. In the spring of 1967, Glenda met her forever love, Larry, at the Snackette in Dixon, Missouri. They were married on June 21st, 1969 and have been blessed with almost 57 years together. Glenda graduated from cosmetology school and worked as she put Larry through his last 2 years of engineering school. Glenda and Larry were later blessed with their children, Melanie Hankins (and husband Scott) and Jeremy Irvin (and wife Janet). God’s blessings continued to abound with the addition of grandchildren. Glenda, aka Grammy, loved spoiling these 7. She was so proud to tell others all about Zane, Kylie, Jaycie, Hudson, Ellasyn, Easton, and Hazel.

Glenda’s life was all about serving God, serving her family, and serving others. Her many talents and creativity shined brightly. Glenda loved the Word of God and taught countless Bible classes, even making centers for the kids at Dixon church of Christ. Glenda planned, organized , cooked and decorated for some amazing parties and ladies’ days. She loved hosting people in her own home with food and games (especially cards). She did woodworking, decorating, sewing, arranging flowers, anything crafty, organizing, rearranging furniture, fishing, and even designing floor plans! A few paragraphs could never summarize Glenda’s life of service to her Lord, her family, friends and even strangers. But one thing is for certain, in all she did she did for the glory of God. Glenda exemplified 1 Peter 4:10 in her daily life “As each one has received a special gift, employ it serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” Glenda had many, many gifts, used them, and was an extraordinary example of a servant’s heart. This wonderful wife, mom, Grammy, sister, aunt and friend ran a God-centered, beautiful, selfless race. We have full confidence that she will hear the words “Well done, good and faithful servant...enter into the joy of the Lord.” (Matt. 25:21)

Glenda was preceded in death by her parents Carl and May Burnham, her brothers Bobby and Randy, and her in-laws Carl and Billie Irvin. She is survived by her husband Larry, her children and their spouses (Melanie and Scott Hankins, Jeremy and Janet Irvin), her seven grandchildren: Zane, Kylie and Jaycie Hankins; Hudson, Ellasyn, Easton, and Hazel Irvin, her sister and brother-in-law Carlene and Russell Withers, sister-in-law Tammy Burnham, brother- and sister-in-law Jim and Sandy Brown, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
