Glenda Marlene (Wulz) VanDusen passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, surrounded by her two adult children and dear friends.
Glenda was born December 29, 1935, on a farm near Hunter, Oklahoma, to Gilbert and Gretchen (Hamilton) Wulz, the children of homesteaders in the land run of 1899. Glenda graduated from Hunter High School in 1954 and earned a bachelor's degree in home economics education and community services from Oklahoma State University in 1958.
Glenda was a professional educator for OG&E, public schools and higher education. She built her career as the Food Service Superintendent for the Veterans Centers in Ardmore, and later Norman, where she retired.
Glenda was dearly devoted to God as an active member of the Goodrich Chronologically Gifted (GCGers) and faithful member of the prayer team for decades. A proud and loving grandmother, Glenda, took in two of her young grandchildren to raise when they needed a stable home. She also volunteered with the Kairos Prison Ministry for several years. Glenda enjoyed sewing, baking, gardening, growing flowers, birdwatching, and spending time with friends.
In her golden years, she reconnected with her high school sweetheart, Wil McMurphy of Stillwater. They enjoyed several happy years together and he was truly the love of her life.
Glenda was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Charles Wulz and James Wulz, and sister Loella Ligon-Weeks. She leaves behind her daughter, Jonna Pierce of Caddo Mills, TX; son, Lawrence VanDusen of Norman; one sister-in-law Arlene Wulz, Tuttle; one sister Joyce Sloman, OK; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held at 1 pm, March 18, at Goodrich Memorial United Methodist Church in Norman, with a reception to follow in the fellowship hall, 200 W Hayes St, Norman, OK 73069.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made in Glenda's name to the Alzheimer's Association - Oklahoma City Office.
