Gloria Ann Hayes
1936-2017
Gloria Ann (McCain) Hayes was born September 23, 1936 in Chandler, Oklahoma to Uel and Edith (Tevebaugh) McCain. She passed from this life on December 24, 2017 in Guthrie, Oklahoma.
Gloria graduated from Edmond Memorial High School in 1955. She married Charles Hayes on September 02, 1956. They celebrated their 61 st Wedding Anniversary this past September. Of this union, 3 children were born, Chuck, Becky and Ginger.
Gloria was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking for everyone. She was very persistent in you eating something while at her house. If you ever left hungry, it was your own fault. Gloria made the best sweet tea and cinnamon rolls. She loved making meals from scratch and cooking 3 meals a day. She was a true Southern cook.
Later in life, Gloria and Charles owned their own trucking company, A&E of Guthrie, Inc. For 8 years, Gloria rode with Charles all over the United States. She was his navigation system. On occasion, not a real good one. Gloria would get distracted by all the beautiful country side, busy cities and crazy people.
Gloria is survived by her husband Charles of the home, children Becky & Kip Jones of Guthrie, OK, Ginger & Rick James of Lanesville, IN and Chuck & Lynnette Hayes of Guthrie, OK; grandchildren, Amber & Chris Roby of Yukon, OK, Mandy & Seth DeHart of Chickasha, OK, Shaun & Kari James of Charlestown, IN, Cody Hayes, Traci Hayes of Guthrie, OK, Kacie & Casey Lewis of New Albany, IN, and Hope & Rob Hutchinson of Guthrie, OK; great-grandchildren, Easton & Emma Roby, Kasen, Ozzy & Stella DeHart, Logan, Lucy & Ledger James, Aden Lewis and Peyton & Bo Hayes. Gloria leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Gloria is preceded in death by her parents Uel & Edith McCain, her sisters Anita Page and Myrna McDaniel.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 3:00 pm at Matthews Funeral Home, 601 S. Kelly, Edmond, OK. There will be no viewing.
