Goldy Elizabeth 'Woodring' Poindexter (1915 – 2016)

Goldy Poindexter, age 100 years, 11 months, and 24 days, of Edmond, Oklahoma passed away surrounded with family on the 24 th day of May 2016. Goldy Elizabeth (Woodring) Poindexter was born on June 3, 1915 in her parents' home near Hayward, Oklahoma, with her brothers Clyde and Fred Woodring and sisters Jewel and Armene Woodring. Their parents were Maude Viola 'Jones' Woodring and Willis Edward Woodring. Goldy was an Alumni Member of Hayward High School.

On January 1, 1934 Goldy married George Clifford Poindexter and together they raised five children: Clifford Edward Poindexter, Elizabeth Ann Poindexter Hayes, Gary Lee Poindexter, R. Dale Poindexter and Danny Lynn Poindexter. After raising her children and losing her husband, Goldy remained on the farm raising cattle. Goldy then began her Avon career where she often said, "selling their products allowed her to meet people and make new friends."

Goldy enjoyed baby-sitting her grandchildren, going to garage sales and just spending time with people. She loved family gatherings and was an excellent cook. She also had tremendous faith and was a member of Bethel Congregational Church where she had a wonderful church family. Goldy is survived by two of her children; daughter Elizabeth Ann 'Poindexter' Hayes of Clayton, New Mexico and son R. Dale Poindexter of Edmond, Oklahoma. She has 14 Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren and 10 Great Great Grandchildren. Special thanks to all the family, friends and care-givers whose love, service and prayers were a blessing to Goldy as she completed her earthly journey.

Funeral services are under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home, 601 S. Kelly Ave, Edmond, Oklahoma. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Bethel Congregational Church, 2131 NW 234 th St, Edmond, Oklahoma with Pastor Larry Jones and Chris Poindexter officiating. A public viewing will be held on Friday, May 27 th from 8 AM to 8 PM at Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond. A graveside service will be at Memorial Park Cemetery immediately following the Bethel Congregational Church service.
