Guy Edward Stagner Jr, age 74 from Oklahoma City, OK passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in OKC after a courageous battle with cancer. Guy was born on December 9, 1946 in Waurika, OK to parents Guy "Jack" and Oma Lee Stagner. He grew up in Loco, Oklahoma and graduated from Loco High School in 1965, as Valedictorian of his class. While in school he was active in 4-H (taking several woodworking projects to the State Fair) and was a great basketball player. After graduation, Guy went to the University of Oklahoma in Norman on a President's Leadership Scholarship. He attended OU for one year before he was drafted into the military and served 2 years in the United States Army from 1966-1968. Upon his return from the service, he completed his bachelors degree in Business Administration from Central State (UCO) in 1973, while also working at Western Electric.
Guy is survived by his wife of 48 years, Priscilla, his two children, son Kevin of OKC, OK and daughter Amanda Shouse (husband Scott) of Grove, OK and granddaughters, Katee & Kenadee Shouse, brother Leo Stagner (wife Norma) of Velma, OK, sister Doris Stagner of Duncan, OK, sister-in-law Carolyn Bradley of Yukon, OK, several nieces and nephews, along with a host of many other relatives.
Guy was an amazing husband, brother, father, and papa. He will be greatly missed by all. To know Guy was to truly love him. Some of his best qualities were he was kind, funny, generous, loving, hard working, loyal, determined and had high integrity. His youngest granddaughter would say, "My papa is the smartest man I know".
He worked in the oil and gas business most of his life, where he had a successful career. Guy retired from Devon Energy in 2009. He quickly went back to work for Continental Resources, and retired for good in 2019, as a Division Order Supervisor.
Viewing will be held from 1-8 pm on Wednesday, October 6 th , with family present to greet friends from 5-7 pm. Services will be held at 10 am on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel in Edmond, OK officiated by Pastor Randy Southerland with interment to follow at the Ringling Cemetery in Ringling, OK at 2 pm.
