Gwynn Jean Krenowicz

Gwynn Jean Krenowicz, age 93, lived a wonderful, long life and went home to be with Jesus in Heaven on July 24, 2026.

Gwynn was a beloved wife, mother, friend, neighbor, mentor, and nurse. She was a lover of God and a lover of people. Since her passing, many friends and family members have shared, "Gwynn called everyone 'dearheart,' and she made us feel so loved."

Gwynn was born on September 18, 1932, in North Platte, Nebraska, to Clarence J. "Bud" Frazier and Alice Irene "Dolly" Guynan Frazier. She graduated from St. Patrick School in North Platte in 1950. Her dream of becoming a registered nurse came true when she graduated from Creighton Memorial St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1953. During her early nursing career, she served in hospitals and doctors' offices.

Gwynn married the love of her life, Bob Krenowicz, in 1958. They made their home in Ponca City, Oklahoma, where Bob worked for Conoco Oil Company as a chemical engineer and manager. Gwynn later left nursing to become a devoted full-time wife, mother, and homemaker. She made sure her son and daughter received an excellent education, always helping with daily homework and and encouraging them to pursue art, tennis, gymnastics, piano, guitar, and countless other interests. Whatever we wanted to learn, she was always our biggest cheerleader.

Gwynn's strong faith in God and the power of prayer were central to her life. Until her final days, she faithfully prayed for her family and friends day and night. She was truly a woman of many talents—gifted at playing the piano and organ, home decorating, sewing, cooking, entertaining, story telling, and serving others. In her younger years, she especially loved taking meals to the elderly, those who were grieving, and her neighbors. Later in her elder years, one of her greatest joys was when her neighbors and friends came to visit with food!

Gwynn also had a great passion for family history and genealogy, spending countless hours in research and compiling family books/albums. In addition, she was an avid bird watcher whose beautiful collection of bird figurines reflected her lifelong love of birds.

After Bob retired from Conoco in 1990, they moved to Edmond, Oklahoma, where they were blessed with many loving and caring friends. Their neighbors became like family over the past 35 years. Gwynn and Bob loved helping and mentoring the younger generation. They also enjoyed being members of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. And their 68-year marriage was an inspiration to everyone who knew them.

Throughout her 93 years, Gwynn was known for her spunky, outgoing personality, wonderful sense of humor, compassion for others, creativity, and sparkling clean home, where she delighted in welcoming family and friends. She will be deeply missed, but we look forward to our joyful family reunion in Heaven.

Gwynn is survived by her beloved husband, Robert “Bob” Anthony Krenowicz; her daughter, Ann Marie Tomkins, and son-in-law, Jeffrey Paul Tomkins; her son, John Anthony Krenowicz; and her nieces, Kristen Widman and Cathy Velsor.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m., Wednesday, August 5th, 2026 at Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond, Oklahoma.

A graveside service will be held following the chapel service at 3:45 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Gwynn's family would like to extend an open invitation to all who would like to join a dinner reception following the services beginning at 5:30 p.m. being held at Interurban Restaurant, 1301 East Danforth Road, Edmond, Oklahoma.
