Hazel Darlene Alsup

January 3, 1941 — August 28, 2025

Edmond

Hazel ”Darlene” Alsup of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at her home on August 28, 2025.

Darlene was born on January 3, 1941, to Aaron and Hazel Willeford in Milfay, Oklahoma. Later in her childhood, the family moved to Bristow, Oklahoma, where she graduated from high school in 1959. That same year on November 28, she married Tommy Alsup whom was her high school sweetheart. The next forty years together were spent building a life and family rooted in love and faith before Tommy lost his battle to cancer. Apart from her husband and children, Darlene had the most affection for her mother, sacrificing nearly a year away from her family to take care of her mother.

Darlene spent most of her working career supporting several state congressmen as a secretary at the State Capitol. The highlight of her career was working for multiple Speakers of the House.

Darlene’s focus away from work was always her family and friends. She was well known for her warm hospitality—no one ever left her home hungry. She especially loved hosting dinners and holidays, with Thanksgiving being a family favorite that created cherished memories for countless relatives and friends.

A new and joyful chapter of Hazel’s life began in 1997 with the arrival of her first grandchild, Tatum. Over the next 15 years, her grandchildren brought endless joy to her days, filling her home with countless sleepovers, late nights, and movie marathons at “Nana’s house.”

After retiring in August 2001, her sanctuary was working in her backyard taking care of her flowers and garden.

Darlene is survived by sons, Brian Alsup and Jason Alsup; granddaughters, Tatum Collier (Clay), Tallie Hess (Sutton), and Trista Alsup; great-granddaughter, Tommie Collier; sisters, Sharon Hoskins and Linda Foutch.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 17th at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery (East Chapel).
