Helen Rose Ashley

November 30, 1931 — November 30, 2024

Helen Rose Ashley was born at home in Mason, Oklahoma on August 26, 1932. She attended Mason Schools where she excelled academically, played on the school basketball team, and served in 4H. Devoted to her family and friends, Helen continued to be interested in their lives and their families when they visited during her sickness. Helen Rose was united with her Savior in the early hours of the morning on June 2, 2025, at 92 years young. She was a planner and organized in her life and her business-as she called it. Three days before her death, after being very sick one morning, she was asking Jessele about an outstanding check and if she had paid a bill!

She is enjoying the fellowship in Heaven with those who have gone before her including her parents Guy and Alma McVeigh, brother J.T. McVeigh, sisters Loretta Gammill and Willidean Carl. She is survived by two brothers: Rick McVeigh and wife Judy of Sapulpa, OK and Leon McVeigh and wife Judy of Castle, OK, her daughter Jessele Miller and husband Jerry of Edmond, OK,  granddaughter Jessica Marking of Edmond,  grandson Jordan Miller of Rowlett, TX and great grandchildren Sarah and Ethan, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends!

Helen was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother-known as Gigi, sister, and friend. She loved her parents and helped take care of her dad for 7 years many times, only going home a few times a month. Servant leadership is a great way to describe Helen! She always, always was available to help her family even if it meant she had to take care of the dogs!

Helen Rose worked for Ford Motor Credit Company for 30 plus years as a Wholesale Coordinator and then as an Administrative Supervisor Assistant. She was a well-respected, hard worker and beloved colleague, remaining friends with many of those she worked with until she passed.

Attending church was always a priority for Helen. She was a long-time member of Rancho Village Baptist Church in Oklahoma City and then moved to Edmond to be closer to family where she joined Edmond's First Baptist Church. Helen studied scriptures memorizing her Bible and reflective poems that she recited each morning. When Jessele asked her how children learned in the "olden days" she replied, "Well, we memorized our lessons, of course. She continued that practice for 92 years of life.

Until her passing, Helen never wavered from her faith and her mind remained actively engaged in life! As her family and friends can attest, she could text with emojis, download and send photos, and Google anything she wanted to know on her cellphone! Helen Rose Ashley was an amazing Godly woman and a life example to all of us! She will be missed!

Services will be held Tuesday, June 10, 2025, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Edmond's First Baptist Church, 1300 E 33rd St, Edmond, OK 73013. Interment will be held beginning at 3:00 p.m. at Morse Cemetery in Okemah, Oklahoma.
