Helen Marie Miller was born on January 14, 1928, to Charlie and Evelyn Ziegelgruber. On September 23, 2025, at the age of 97, she peacefully passed from this earthly life to her glorious home in heaven.
Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dennis Miller, Sr., and by her son, Billy Ziegelgruber. She is survived by her sons Dennis Miller, Jr. and wife Sharon; Bob Miller and wife Linda; and John Ziegelgruber. She is also survived by her daughters Frances Rogers, Carolyn Pickert and husband Michael, and Nancy Thompson and husband Gary; d-i-l Kathleen Ziegelgruber. Helen’s legacy continues through her 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Helen and Dennis shared a remarkable marriage of almost 72 years, living for 53 of those years in their family home on N. May Avenue before moving to south Oklahoma City and later to an independent living apartment. Together, they built a home filled with faith, love, and service to others.
Helen will be remembered as a devoted woman of faith who loved Jesus deeply. She poured that love into her children and into many Sunday School classes she taught. She lived to serve others, whether through church activities or volunteering for The HUGS Project in support of veterans. Her heart was large enough to embrace the many blended families of her children, welcoming all with love.
In her early years, Helen hand-made wool rugs before later attending cosmetology school and opening her own beauty shop at home. She and Dennis shared a spirit of adventure, traveling far and wide with their camper truck to destinations as distant as Alaska and Nova Scotia. They also enjoyed crafting together in their woodshop, selling their handmade creations at craft fairs, and building friendships through their volunteer work.
After Dennis’s passing, Helen brought joy to others in a new way—baking cookies for her fellow residents at Southwest Mansions. Fondly known as the “Cookie Lady,” she faithfully delivered two cookies at a time to more than 100 residents monthly, pushing her walker loaded with sweet treats. Even during the challenges of the COVID lockdown in 2020, Helen’s spirit remained unshaken. She moved in with Nancy and Gary, where she cherished life with their family of three until her final days.
Helen’s life was a shining example of faith, devotion, generosity, and love. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.
We would like to thank our team from Anthem Hospice for all their hard work and loving compassion shown to our Mom.
