Helga Weiss Green, beloved wife, mother, Omi, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2026, at the age of 87. She was born on September 20, 1938, in Kassel, Germany, where her early years shaped the resilience and quiet strength that would define her life.
Helga met her husband, Thomas Green, while he was stationed in Paris, France—a chance encounter that became the beginning of a lifelong partnership. They married on August 24, 1959. Three years later, she bravely left her home country and arrived in the United States on September 3, 1962, eventually settling in Midwest City, Oklahoma. With determination and hope, she embraced her new life, building a home, a community, and a future. On November 15, 1973, Helga proudly took the oath of citizenship, becoming a naturalized American citizen—an achievement she cherished deeply.
Helga lived a life marked by kindness, resilience, a strong sense of ethics and unwavering devotion to her family and friends. During her years in Midwest City—especially on 8th Street—Helga formed close, lasting friendships with neighbors. Helga had a knack for finance and accounting and passion for helping people. Throughout her time at Housing Services, First National Bank of Midwest City, and later the U.S. Treasury Department her career allowed her to utilize these skills to create meaningful connections with coworkers and clients.
Guided by a steadfast faith in God, Helga was a dedicated member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Midwest City for many years. She was actively involved in Sunday School, served faithfully with the Altar Guild, and willingly gave her time and talents in service to others.
For her family, Helga spent years creating a home filled with love, laughter, support, and steady guidance. Those who knew her will remember her gentle spirit, her thoughtful nature, and the way she made everyone feel welcome. She had a gift for listening, a talent for nurturing, and a heart that never stopped giving.
She is survived by her children and their spouses: Thomas & Cynthia Green, Andrew & Erica Green, and Stephanie & James Beauchamp; her grandchildren Matthew, Clara, and John August; and her great‑grandchildren Maverick and Avery, and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces in Germany. She is preceded in death by her husband Thomas Green; her parents Karl and Gertrud Weiss; and her siblings Trudel, Margret, and Lothar.
A Memorial and Celebration of Life service for Helga will be held on July 31, 2026, at 11:00 am at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 308 NW 164th St, Edmond, OK 73013. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to: Legacy Family Hospice - Legacy Family Hospice or to the Oklahoma Humane Society.
