Irvine "Irby" C. Briscoe

1937-2018

Irby Briscoe, 81, was born in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. She Graduated Mary Washington School of Practical Nursing in 1958, married John Raymond Briscoe Jr. of Luther, OK (deceased) in September of 1959 and moved to Oklahoma. They were members of the First Christian Church of Luther where they raised their 3 children. Irby is also preceded in death by her daughter Sheila Briscoe and grand-daughter Dani Briscoe. She is survived by children Pam Gebron-Farris and John Kevin Briscoe; grandchildren LaTisha Greggs and Catherine Gebron; as well as great grandchildren Jonathan Dickinson, Logan Greggs and Lidia Greggs. Irby was a farm/ranch wife, mom, nurse, and party planner! She loved having groups of friends out to the house for parties; that eventually evolved into helping others set up and decorate for shower and wedding receptions. She loved fiercely and maintained friendships with all of her school mates from 4th grade thru college, her church, as well as friends from everywhere she ever worked, patients, fellow nurses, plus all the doctors they supported, as evidenced by the many get togethers they all enjoyed. She was a goal setter too … she loved telling the story of going back to work to earn money for their first color TV in time for the Thanksgiving Parade. She made no bones that she had only gone back to work long enough to do so and calculated exactly when it would be earned. It had been discussed several times, her supervisor knew her plan, she just did not believe mom would actually leave in the middle of her shift … she did! Ha Ha … Oh yeah, she'll be missed by all of us left behind. A private Memorial Service was held Saturday for family and close friends.
