Mr. Jackie Don Henderson died peacefully in Edmond, Oklahoma on February 16th at the age of 85.

Jack is survived by his wife Patricia, his children Vickie Garrett and husband Wyndall, son David Henderson and wife Michele, son Timothy Henderson, daughter Sandra Kinman and husband Tim, son Donald Henderson and wife Tiffany, step son Kelly Smith, 18 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. His sisters Louise Mullennax, Alberta Norton, Jean Smith, Marsha Anson, Linda (Jimmy)Spitz and his brothers Bob (Jeri) Henderson and David(Donna) Henderson. He is preceded in death by his father Herbert Henderson, mother Ruth (Collins) Henderson brother Wayne Henderson, Arthur Henderson, Doris (Henderson) Webb, Hap Henderson, and the mother of his children Josephine (Bernhardt) Henderson.

Jack was born on October 11, 1931 in Cleveland, OK to Herbert and Ruth Henderson . He graduated from Fairfax High School in 1952. He entered the Army and in 1957 he married Josephine Bernhardt. He served in the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He served his country for 22 years, traveling extensively while raising his children. In 1986 he was lucky enough to meet and marry Patty Smith, to whom he was married at the time of his death.

Jack and Patty enjoyed traveling the country in their RV. They were very active in their church, New Covenant Methodist United Methodist Church.

A funeral is scheduled for 2:00 on February 21, 2017 at New Covenant United Methodist Church with internment to follow at Gracelawn Cemetery, Edmond Oklahoma. He will available for visitation at Matthews Funeral Home starting at 2:00 on Sunday February 19. Family will be available at the formal visitation on Monday February 20 from 6:00 to 8:00. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to New Covenant United Methodist Church Missions at 2700 S. Boulevard, Edmond, Oklahoma 73013. The family would like to thank Integris Hospice for their tender care of Jack.
