Jacquelyn Marie Hicks

Jackie was born in Pensacola, Florida, attended St. Stephen’s Catholic School for 8 years and graduated from Catholic High School in 1967, enjoying many activities, sports, and academic achievements while developing many lifelong friendships. She went on to complete the Registered Nurse program at the University of West Florida. As a Psychiatric Nurse working at Escambia County Hospital, she met the love of her life, Larry. They married November 13, 1971. As a proud Naval Officer’s wife, she supported her family through many changes, challenges, and adventures. After 25 years, the family returned to Oklahoma in 1995. Jackie continued to work in the nursing field in various ways including over 10 years with the Oklahoma City-County Health Department. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling, visiting with friends and family, and playing with the grandbabies.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Leeland Wasdin; brother Lee Wasdin II, and her husband, Retired US Navy Commander Larry Lee Hicks. She is survived by their 3 children: Melissa and husband Jonathan Manning; Heather Hicks-Davis; and Chris and wife Christina Hicks. Grandchildren Leon, Duncan, Moira, Quinn, Zack, and Ashlyne. Sisters-in-law Elva Cassidy and Reta Clopton. Niece Wendy Reynolds and family, Nephew Chip Wasdin and family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Infant Crisis Center or YWCA Women’s Shelter.

Public visitation to be held Monday, December 8, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Matthews Funeral Home.

A Wake Service will be held Monday, December 8, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Matthews Funeral Home.

Services will be held Tuesday, December 9, 2025, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 900 S Littler Ave, Edmond, OK 73034. Interment is to follow at Rose Hill Burial Park, 6001 NW Grand Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK 73118.
