Jim Spruill
1927-2013
Long time Edmond resident Jim Spruill went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 6th, 2013 while surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, Ethel Mae Spruill.
Jim was born in Calvin, OK on October 31st, 1927 to Cluin Mathis Spruill and Annis Jane Cook. He had three brothers; Archie, Hershell and Wesley. Jim moved to Edmond in 1947. He met Ethel Mae Jordan, and they married 64 years ago on September 25, 1948. Jim and Ethel retired from Jim's Railroad Ties, a business they had owned for 21 years. Jim loved to hunt and fish on the many farms he owned over the years. Jim was a horse trader and loved to buy and sell.
Jim and Ethel have two daughters; Sharon (Harvey) Derrick of Edmond, OK, and Brenda Winkler of San Francisco, CA. Four grandsons; Devin Derrick of Edmond, OK, Caleb (Kari) Derrick of Edmond, OK, Josh Himes of Divide, CO and Jason (Emilia) Winkler of San Francisco, CA. One granddaughter; Angel Derrick of Edmond, OK, one great grandson; Tyler Winkler of Edmond, OK, five great granddaughters; Kylie Derrick, Brookelyn Derrick, Remington Derrick, Ava Winkler and Elle Winkler.
Graveside services will be held Monday, May 13th at 10 AM at the Waterloo Cemetery on the corner of Waterloo and Kelly in Edmond, OK.
Viewing will be held on Saturday and Sunday at Matthews Funeral Home.
