It is with sadness that we announce the passing of James “Jimmy” Neal McWilliams, who departed this life peacefully on May 19, 2026, at the age of 88. James was born on August 12, 1937, in Eddy, Oklahoma, to James H. and Alpha N. McWilliams. Through his journey of life, he touched many lives with his wisdom, humor, and an unwavering spirit of perseverance.
James was a dedicated husband to Patsy, his loving wife of 71 years, and a devoted father to his daughters, Lynn and Carie. He was a proud grandfather to Aaron and great-grandfather to Campbell and Parker, and a loyal friend to many.
James was an exceptional athlete growing up and an Oklahoma Sooner fan. He loved country western music, enjoyed fishing and hunting, and he was an avid bird watcher. James was a hardworking man who built a career as a senior marketing representative for the Hartford Insurance Company for 36 years. Whether he was telling jokes, hosting family holidays, watching OU football, or showing off his infamous dad dance moves, James made every moment unforgettable.
He is survived by his wife Patsy (Ehlers) McWilliams, of Edmond, OK; two daughters, Lynn Jones (Brent) and Carie McWilliams, both of Edmond, OK; grandson, Aaron Fleck (Jenny), of Oklahoma City; two great-grandchildren, Campbell Fleck and Parker Fleck, both of Oklahoma City; one brother, Wade McWilliams (Joel), of Tulsa, OK; and also special nieces and nephews.
In addition, James was preceded in death by his parents, James H. McWilliams and Alpha N. (Bryant) McWilliams, and a brother, Gary S. McWilliams.
James’s kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family will never be forgotten. A grave site service will be held at the Tonkawa IOOF Cemetery, Route 60, Tonkawa, OK, 74653, on May 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Heart Association in James’s memory.
