James was born April 18, 1943 in Stephenville, Texas. He passed away October 20, 2020 at the Hospice House in Oklahoma City, OK due to cancer. He married Janet Northup on June 11, 1994 in Taylorville, Oklahoma. James graduated from Texas Tech with a Master's Degree in Science. James started in the dairy industry when he was 16. He worked for Triangle Cheese, Bordens, USDA, HEB Food Stores, Randolph's Consulting & Hiland Dairy. He coached youth baseball for 15+ years in San Antonio, TX. He played softball into his 50's. He enjoyed golf, basketball, football, gardening & yardwork, darts & shuffleboard and working on old pick up trucks. He is survived by his wife, Janet Roberson of Edmond, OK, children Don Roberson of Rock Hill, SC, Drew Roberson of Stephenville, TX, grandchildren, James, Jackson, Judge, and Reid Roberson, step-brothers, Cecil Beasley and wife, Wiley Beasley and wife, Lonnie Beasley, niece, Paula & Dana Thomas of Fort Worth, nephew, Randy & Glenda Roberson of Lubbock, TX, step children, Jeff & Pam Northup of Guthrie, Keith & Keely Northup of Guthrie, Becky Burton of Guthrie, step grandchildren, Amber & Heath Ranck, Holly & Bruce Doane, Mason Northup, Myka Burton step great grandchildren, Xander Garcia, Renley & Ryken Ranck & River Doane. He is preceded in death by his parents, Crinty & Erma Nell Roberson, brother, Billy Joe Roberson, sister-in-law, Doris Roberson and grandson, Ryan Roberson.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Monday, October 26, 2020, at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM.
