James Samuel "Sam" Erwin, 73, Edmond, Oklahoma passed away on October 31, 2023, in Oklahoma City, OK.  Sam was born in Abilene, Texas on June 16, 1950, to Eldon Ray and Helene (Rosencranz) Erwin.

Sam graduated from Texas Tech University, Lubbock, TX in 1975 with a Bachelor's degree in German.   He married Susan Hagood in July of 1971 in Lubbock, and together they raised two sons, Miles and Mark.  Sam worked in sales and management at US Foods retiring in 2014.    He was an active member of the Lutheran Church for 50 years.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, food preparation and presentation.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Barbara Smith.  He is survived by his wife, Susan of Edmond, OK, sons Miles Erwin and wife Beth of San Antonio, TX  and Senior Master Sgt. Mark Erwin and wife Nathaly, of Homestead, FL., Grandchildren, Liam and Megan of San Antonio, Texas and Franco of Homestead, Florida, Granddaughter, Senior Airman MaKenzie Kennedy of Bellevue, NE.  Brothers Gary and wife Stacy of San Angelo, TX and Keith and wife Cindy of Farmersville, TX, Mother-in-Law Milile Hagood Treadway of Fort Myers, Florida, Brother-in-Laws, Mike Hagood and wife Kem of Katy, Texas and Tim Hagood, Lubbock, TX.

Memorial Contributions can be made to: Concordia Lutheran Seminary, 801 Seminary Place, St. Louis, MO, or a charity of your choice.

Services will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Edmond, OK with interment to follow at Waterloo Cemetery, Edmond, OK.
