James E. Underwood

1928-2014

James Edward Underwood, 85, of Edmond, OK was born Nov. 24, 1928 in Eldorado, Arkansas to Edward and Effie (Spears) Underwood. After graduating from Eldorado High School, he joined the U.S. Navy during WWII, and after serving he attended Louisiana Tech prior to beginning a long career in the Oil and Gas Industry in sales and management. Jim was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather with a great sense of humor and a passion for life. In addition to being a great family man and friend, he was an avid golfer and was a member of Twin Hills and River Oaks golf courses.

Jim passed on September 20, 2014 in Edmond surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife Lurline, of the home; Son, Stephen and his wife Jan Underwood of Edmond; Daughter, Cindy and her husband Joe Spiro of Colorado Springs, CO; Grandchildren, Kelly and husband Josh Crotser; Jake and his wife Kendra Underwood and their two children Brady and Gideon; Bert and his wife Tammy Hughlett and his brother, Earl and his wife Carolyn Underwood. Jim was loved dearly and will be missed.

Services are 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel.
