James D. Wilson Sr.
1943-2016
On February 7th, 1943, James Dave Wilson Sr. was born to Opal Dunlap and James Lydie in Oklahoma City, OK. James was raised by his adoptive father, Lacey Wilson, along with his five siblings, who have all proceeded him in death.
James led his life like a great adventure. He was a Marine Machinist for the U.S. Navy in Alameda, CA. He loved to fish, garden, and build things. He was the proud Father of Gina D. Baptiste of Oakley, CA, James D. Wilson Jr. of Oklahoma City, OK, Tamala M. Coulter of Oklahoma City, OK, Jamie P. Green of Oklahoma City, OK, Donovan L. Wilson of Edmond, OK, Jamel D. Wilson of Edmond, OK and Charles M. Wilson Sr. of Edmond, OK.
He shared his life with his beloved wife of 47 years, Lois H.S. Wilson of Edmond, OK. Together they raised seven children. From their children came 25 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and two more great-grandchildren soon to be born. James was also a surrogate Father to many children in the communities that he resided. He loved to cook and everyone loved his bar-b-que.
James was well respected and considered a leader to everyone he knew. He was well known for his ability to make you laugh and feel loved. He liked to joke and brought happiness to every occasion. James loved his family and friends unselfishly his whole life.
James came to know the Lord in his final months of life and was welcomed home by his Creator on September 5 th , 2016. He is loved by everyone and will be greatly missed.
A wake service and formal visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, September 9, 2016 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel. Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel.
