It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of James Daniel Witter, Jr., a beloved father, brother, uncle, and friend, who left us on January 30, 2026, at the age of 67. Born on April 21, 1958, in Miami Beach, Florida, James dedicated his life to his family and the many friends who were fortunate enough to know him.
James was the son of James Daniel Witter, Sr. and Cecelia Jean Levinson, both of whom preceded him in death, alongside his brothers Bruce Witter, and Gary Paul Witter, and his sister JoAnne Valenzuala. He carried their memories with him throughout his life and cherished the lessons they imparted.
James served his country honorably as an E-4 Specialist in the 4th Battalion 40th Armor Unit of the United States Army, an experience that shaped his character and instilled in him a profound respect for service and sacrifice. After his military service, he found work as a sandblaster, where he applied his hands-on skills and work ethic.
Family meant everything to James. He is survived by his children: Daniel Lee Witter, Brian James Witter, Kellie Bottomley, Matthew Klingforth, and Xavier Nzeyimana, who he loved deeply and proudly. He also leaves behind his beloved family members, Trent and Alexandria Burkhead, Victoria L. Witter, Brendan M. Nutter, and his sister-in-law, Jennifer A. Porter and husband Robert S. Porter. James had a unique ability to connect with people, and he loved to make others laugh and share stories about family, always eager to meet new faces and forge new connections.
James had a passion for creating miniature models, particularly of military tanks and fighter planes. His attention to detail and commitment to his hobbies reflected his vibrant personality. He was also known for his strong opinions and was a dedicated supporter of President Donald J. Trump and an avid viewer of Fox News, often engaging in lively discussions about politics and current events.
Despite facing the challenges of Stage 4 pancreatic cancer, James remained resilient and maintained his humor and warmth through to the end. His spirit was indomitable, and he faced his illness with the same courage he displayed throughout his life.
A private viewing service will be held in Edmond, Oklahoma, on February 3rd and burial service in Ardmore, Oklahoma at the Seaman First Class Billy Turner Veterans Cemetery on February 4th., where family and close friends will gather to honor his memory and celebrate the life he lived.
James Daniel Witter, Jr. had a remarkable ability to touch the hearts of those around him. He will be profoundly missed, but his laughter, love, and spirit will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends. May he rest peacefully in the arms of Jesus.
