Janet Carol Gywnn
1938-2019
Janet Carol (Hays) Gwynn was born August 18, 1938 in Oklahoma City, Ok to Hiram and Vela Hays. She married Frank R. Gwynn on July 23, 1955 and was married 30 years until his death in November of 1985. Children from the marriage were Gregory Frank Gwynn, Jana April Imel, Amy Hays Jenkins and John Franklin Gwynn. She was survived by her children: Jana April Imel, Amy Hays Jenkins and John Franklin Gwynn and her grandchildren: Blake Imel, Nic Imel, Julianna Imel, Brent Jenkins, Jared Jenkins, Emersyn Gwynn and Drayke Gwynn.
Janet was very blessed to have grown up in a strong Christian family. The strength of her faith and convictions were instilled by her parents at a very early age.
The happiest times in her life and most vivid memories are of the years that she was able to stay at home and be a wife and a mother. She loved her husband and children dearly. She loved entertaining friends and friends of her children. She would rather be in the kitchen cooking with family around her than any other place in the world. She traveled often and enjoyed adventures and a new world everyday with her children.
She assisted her husband in the operation of an optical business after the children were in school. After his death, she worked at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for 19 years until she retired in 2003.
She was a very opinionated person and was concerned about our Christian churches and our beloved country. She was involved and at times very outspoken on political and moral issues in our schools, church and state. She had a very strong conviction that if the good people don't speak up and protect what is right…evil will dominate and she wanted her children and grandchildren to have a good life and enjoy freedom and justice. She was thankful that her children serve the Lord and are teaching their children about the ways of her Savior.
She truly believed that the most important thing in relationships is "humor". She felt you should never take yourself or daily condition too seriously. She laughed often. She truly enjoyed her life. She loved to sing, she enjoyed good music, comedy and laughter. She felt money and material things do not create happiness. A love and appreciation for life, family, health, liberty and the blessings from our Heavenly Father are the key. Happiness is a choice.
Above all things she wanted her children and grandchildren to know that she loves them. She prayed for them daily. She plans on welcoming them to heaven and all of us enjoying heaven together throughout all eternity. Our physical separation is only temporary and she will be anticipating our joyful reunion.
