On August 1, 1976, Jason Michael Parson made his way into our world, arriving a few days early, much to his family's delight. He very unexpectedly left our world on May 31, 2024, breaking more than a few hearts.
Jason spent his childhood in Edmond, where he and his best friends found lots of mischief and fun, especially while riding their three-wheelers and dirt bikes, exploring much of Logan County. At a young age, Jason and his older brother, Brad, both discovered their love of the lake, including boating, skiing, and wakeboarding together. In fact, they loved it so much that Brad would sometimes come home from college, sign Jason out of school, and they'd sneak off to find some water for the day. Jason was a member of Edmond North's first graduating class – the class of 1995.
As an adult, Jason spent a few years as a medic for EMSA and as a volunteer firefighter for Oak Cliff. He enrolled at Oklahoma State University, where he pledged Beta Theta Pi; he earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Central Oklahoma and began working as a software engineer and team leader. He was a brilliant innovator and could solve nearly any problem. Jason truly enjoyed mentoring new software engineers and helping them learn and grow.
In 2007, Jason and Meg met, thanks to their mutual friend Matthew. They spent the last 17 years together, finding happiness, laughter, fireworks, and adventure everywhere they went, often accompanied by their favorite friends and their beloved dogs, Sally and Stanley.
Somewhere, Jason is sitting by the water, waiting for his long-time girlfriend Meg, of the home; his parents Larry and Jeanne Parson of Edmond; his brother Brad, sister-in-law Brandy, nephew Aidan, and niece Abbie of Edmond; nephews Adrian Inglés and Harrison Doane of Kansas; his puppies, Sally and Stanley, and many cherished aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and colleagues. Until then, Grandma Ruth Parson, Grandpa Russell Parson, Grandma Hazel Hackney, Grandpa Louis Hackney, and Tess and Tanner are keeping him company.
Please join us for a true celebration of Jason's life at 2 pm on Saturday, June 15, at Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond. Memorial donations may be made to Forever Yours Dog Rescue (http://www.foreveryoursokc.org/donate) or the Oklahoma Youth Hunting Program (https://oyhp.org/donate), both of which are organizations Jason greatly loved.
