Jeanette Carol Wheeler was born on November 7th, 1947, in Oklahoma City and was called home to be with the Lord on April 2nd, 2026. Jeanette was the oldest of 4 children born to beloved parents, Leon and Mina Lou Oswalt.
Upon graduating from high school from Northeast, she enrolled at the University of Central Oklahoma where she ultimately received a master’s degree in education. She was a devoted elementary school teacher for 34 years and was passionate about cultivating curiosity and nurturing growth.
Thanks to mutual friends and divine intervention, Jeanette met the love of her life and on June 7, 1996 she married Don Wheeler. She was lovingly nicknamed ‘Memaw” and ‘Nettie’ and loved spoiling her godchildren, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews as if they were her own. She always looked forward to an annual Minnesota trip with Don, sibling dinners, casino outings with family and anything else that surrounded her with the people she loved.
Jeanette is survived by her devoted husband Don; brother Jim Oswalt and wife Suzanne; sister Mary Jane Cazares and husband Charlie; godson Leonard Braxton and wife Jami and daughters Chandler, Landri and Leni; nieces Lindsey Karner and Kristen Zakariassen; nephews Brad Stroup and Lucas Oswalt and many great-nieces and nephews who adored her. She is preceded in death by her loving parents and sister Mindy Oswalt. Jeanette will be greatly missed but we are comforted knowing that she is celebrating with loved ones in the presence of the Lord.
