Jenna Lee Adkins

April 30, 1940 — December 27, 2025

Edmond

Jenna Lee Riley Adkins , age 85, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2025. She was born on April 30, 1940, in Nowata, Oklahoma, to James and Juanita Riley.

Jenna grew up in Oklahoma and later married the love of her life, Dallas Adkins, on February 19, 1960, in Arlington, Virginia. They shared 65 years of marriage, walking through life together with faith, resilience, and care for one another and their family.

While living in the Washington, D.C. area, Jenna worked as a secretary for the Department of the Navy. After relocating to Oklahoma, she held various administrative positions and ultimately retired in January 2000 from her role as Office Manager with the Oklahoma Psychological Associates—just weeks before the arrival of her first grandchild, Daniel Riley Adkins. She was absolutely over the moon about becoming a grandmother.

Jenna’s retirement was joyfully celebrated by her family—Dallas, Sheldon, Christi, Greg, and Dawn—who surprised her with a limousine pickup and dinner in downtown Oklahoma City, a memory cherished by all.

Jenna found great joy in life’s simple and beautiful moments. She loved to sing, take photographs of her loved ones, garden, make Christmas candy, read, and thoughtfully plan special activities with her grandchildren. Her faith was lived out in her life through her active participation in women’s ministry and Bible study, and through creative pursuits she cherished, including years of involvement in 4-H, needlepoint, sewing, scrapbooking, and a lifelong love of horses.

She especially treasured traveling, with many beloved trips to Colorado—including Crested Butte, Aspen, Durango, and Westcliffe—as well as adventures to Cancun, Santa Fe, New York with her sister and cousins, as well as an Alaskan cruise. She and Dallas also traveled to Belgium on a mission trip with Quail Springs Church of Christ.

One of Jenna’s greatest joys was faithfully cheering on her grandsons, Daniel and Cole, at every single baseball game—from T-ball through high school. She also proudly cheered her granddaughter Ruby on from afar in her soccer matches.

Jenna modeled and lived out a strong, steady faith in God, introducing both her husband and children to that faith through her words and actions. Her persistent faith and gentle spirit were evident to all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving husband, Dallas Adkins of Edmond, Oklahoma; her daughter, Dawn Adkins Schmidli, and granddaughter, Ruby Schmidli, of Colorado; her son, Sheldon Adkins, and daughter-in-law, Christi Adkins, and grandsons, Daniel and Cole Adkins, of Edmond, Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Juanita Riley, her sister, Patty Sue Reeder; and her son-in-law, Greg Schmidli.

Memorial contributions may be made in Jenna’s honor to the American Cancer Society, a cause she chose in remembrance of her parents.

Jenna will be remembered for her unwavering faith, gentle spirit, steadfast encouragement of others, and the deep love she poured into her family.
