Jimmy W. Berry

1939-2021

Jimmy W. Berry was born in Oklahoma City on February 13 th , 1939 to Joe and Pearl Berry, and the angels led him home on Saturday, July 3, 2021.

Jim graduated from Northeast High School in Oklahoma City in 1957.  On January 10 th , 1958, Jim was joined in marriage to Dolores Tinder. Their love was an example of true commitment, as they celebrated their 63 rd wedding anniversary this year. They were blessed with their sons, Rick, Mike, and Ken.

Jim was a Deputy for the Oklahoma County Sheriff's office for 17 years, before going to work as the Director of Security at Oak Tree Country Club and residential community in Edmond. He was with Oak Tree for 32 years.

Jim is preceded in death by his sons Richard and Kenneth; his parents Pearl and Joe Berry; and his in-laws, Austin and Jean Tinder. He is survived by his wife Dolores, his son Mike, and his daughter-in-law Cheri (Rick); his grandchildren Chris, Ricque, Michael, Megan, Collin, Ryan, and Justin; and 12 great-grandchildren; his brothers Bill (Ginger) and Bob (Kelly); and many nieces and nephews.

The memories we share of Jim are examples of hard work and love of family. Jim loved the outdoors, and his love of archery, cars, and guns was passed on to his sons and grandchildren. While we grieve at his loss, we celebrate a life that is now whole, healed and complete. We rejoice that Jim is with God, Rick, and Kenny, and we will be with him again someday. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7.

Graveside services and interment for Jim will be on Saturday, July 10 th , at 10:00 AM, at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 8701 NW Expressway, Oklahoma City. Funeral services are under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
