Jimmy Ray Burdick
6-24-1930 – 12-27-2020
Jimmy was born in Edmond Oklahoma and was the oldest of 8 children.
His parents were Earnest and Eunice Burdick of Edmond. He lived and worked his entire life in and around Edmond. He met Willie Tanksley of Oklahoma City; they were married May 19, 1952. They had two children, Jimmy Ray Jr. and Martha Ann.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bob, Willie his 1 st wife of 49 years, Pauline his second wife of 15 years and his granddaughter Meredith Burdick and his Great Granddaughter Karley Burdick. He is also preceded in death by Step granddaughter Miranda Adam and Step Grandson Matt Burdick.
Jimmy is survived by his son and daughter in law Jim and Connie Burdick of Guthrie, daughter and Son-In-Law Martha and Mike Foster of Oklahoma City, step daughter and husband Diana and Robbie Dykes, of Edmond. step daughter and husband Debra and Kent Adam of Owasso, step son and wife David and Linda Burdick of Moore. He is also survived by Grandchildren David Burdick of Edmond, Eric and Jennifer Foster of Oklahoma City, Lynsey and Jeremy Edison of Oklahoma City. Step Grandchildren Troy and Nikki Dykes of Mulhall, Jeremy and Andrea Dykes of Yukon Okla., Jenna and Casey Nichols of Collinsville, 12 great grandchildren and 6 step great grandchildren.
Jim is also survived by his Sisters, Elva Jean Kellogg of Columbus, Indiana, and Dolores Roberts, Virginia Haws, Dorothy Cheatwood of Edmond. Brother and Sister-in-Law Lynn and Angie Burdick of Edmond, Brother and Sister-in-Law John and Debbie Burdick of Oklahoma City. Sister-In -Law Arlene Burdick of Oklahoma City.
Jimmy spent his entire working life of over 40 years as a Professional Florist. Jim and his son Jimmy and Daughter-In-Law Connie owned and operated Edmond Flower shop for 30 of those years. Over the years Jim enjoyed fishing, gardening, bowling and vacation travel. In his later years he continued to garden on his scooter and could be seen often sitting in the sun, wearing a cowboy hat, smoking a cigar. He also enjoyed the Thunder basketball team, OU and OSU football games, but what he most enjoyed was playing dominoes with his sister Dorothy and just about anyone willing to get their tails beat. He won a lot more than he lost.
Jim will be loved and missed by all that knew him. The family would like to thank all that helped with Dad over the years especially Diana, Debbie and David, Brother Lynn and Sister Dorothy and Caretaker Cynthia. A celebration of life Memorial will be held in the near future.
