Joanne Noel Johnson, 94, of Edmond, passed from this earthly presence on February 11, 2025, surrounded by family. She is now celebrating her heavenly life, busy dancing on the streets of gold, free of a walker and sharp of mind!
She entered her life of 94 years on September 23,1930 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the child of Joel Thane (J.T.) and Lyda C. Noel, also welcomed by big sister Ordell.
Joanne's love story with her husband, Kenneth Ronald "Ron" Johnson, began at Immanuel Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, where both were active in the choir. They married on February 16, 1951, and together raised three daughters, Kimberly, Kelley, and Kara. Joanne was a devoted mother, homemaker, and a passionate Sunday School teacher for many years. She enjoyed caring for her children, and later in life, was a constant presence in the lives of her grandchildren.
Joanne graduated from Classen High School in 1948 and went on to attend Draughon School of Business. She worked in the Geology Department at Continental Oil Company in Oklahoma City before becoming a stay-at-home mom. After her children grew older, Joanne returned to work at Adams-Millis Corporation in Edmond and later worked at several oil and gas companies in Oklahoma City.
Beyond her professional life, Joanne and Ron cherished their lifelong friendship with Bill and Helen Goforth, enjoying double dates in their high school years and then many trips together in retirement.
Joanne was a lover of animals, having had several beloved pets over the years, including her first dog, Heidi Brown, and her last, Bentley. She was an avid reader and found great joy in spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending time at the lake with her daughter and son-in-law. She was also instrumental in caring for her father and husband in their later years.
Joanne is survived by her three daughters, Kimberly Walrond (Scott), Kelley Brewer (Jeff), and Kara Campbell; her twelve grandchildren, Kyle Granger (Jennifer), Kari Hoffhines (Aran), Laura Ward (Kevin), Katelyn Granger, Kaitlin Walrond (Kelton), Allison Taft (Josh), Mitchell Brewer (April), Alana Jackson (Hunter), Katrice Hernandez (Tim), Kayla Wrasse, Tyler Campbell, and Tanner Campbell (Ashlynn); and her 14 great-grandchildren (and another Baby Jackson on the way!), Ella Granger, Owen Granger, Caden Hoffhines, Aspen Hoffhines, Margot Ward, Asher Ward, Noxley Solorio, Gwen Taft, Ollie Taft, Nora Jackson, Kalina Hernandez, Sisto Hernandez, Parker Wrasse, and Braelynn Wrasse.
Joanne is preceded in death by her parents, J.T. and Lyda Noel, her sister, Ordell Fest, her loving husband of 53 years, Ron Johnson, and her granddaughter, Rachel Brewer.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 16, from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Matthews Funeral Home, 601 S. Kelly Ave, Edmond, OK, 73003.
The funeral service will take place on Monday, February 17, at 2:00 p.m., also at Matthews Funeral Home, followed by internment at Memorial Park Cemetery, 13313 N. Kelley Ave., OKC, OK 73131.
