Joel H. Jeffries
1924-2018
B. Wendell Jeffries (later changed to Joel Henry Jeffries), of Edmond, OK, went to be with the Lord on October 19, 2018. Joe was born in Carmen, OK, on December 3, 1924. He was preceded in death by his parents (Roy Earl and Beulah Jeffries), brother (Melvin Jeffries), and wife (Idamaye Jeffries).
On November 3, 1944, he married Idamaye Vore in Dacoma, Oklahoma at the Church of God. They resided in Carmen where he farmed and worked at a gas station until moving to Blackwell, Oklahoma, in June of 1950. He was employed by Blackwell Zinc Co. for 28 years. In 1955 he and Idamaye came to know the Lord under the ministry of Rev. Melvin Riddle. Many wonderful pastors followed Melvin Riddle (Rev. Roy Darden, Rev. Larry Wade, and Rev. Larry Henderson). Under their ministries Joe and Idamaye's faith in God grew as they became involved in the church. Joe and other church members helped Rev. Roy Darden build a new church building in the 1960's. In 1979 they moved to Edmond, OK, where Joe was employed by Jeffries Construction, in the home building industry until his retirement in August of 1986. During this time, they attended Edmond First Nazarene Church where they enjoyed the ministry of Rev. Mark Hollingsworth, their pastor for 25 years.
Joe is survived by two sons, Larry (wife Marcia), Chuck (wife Renee); five grandchildren, Jennifer (husband Tyler), Angela (husband Jeff), Jeff (wife Randi), Stacie (husband Zane), Greg (wife Kristen), and 17 great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Edmond First Nazarene Church family and friends for their prayers and encouragement.
