John Glenn Butler
1969-2020
The final chapter in John Glenn Butler's life was written on June 3 rd , 2020. His unexpected passing was overwhelming to his family and friends as was the empathy showered upon them.
John was born in Ridgewood, New Jersey on August 8, 1969 to Myron and Noreen Butler. He was named after his Paternal and Maternal Grandfathers. He moved to Atlanta, GA when he was in Pre-K. The family then moved to Round Rock, TX in 1975 where John's love of every one of God's critters; armadillos, turtles, lizards, especially snakes and tarantulas bloomed. He purchased "Tex" a female Mexican Red-Knee Tarantula with birthday money from his maternal grandmother, the late Mary Kocan of Pittsburgh, PA. The family also came to love "Tex," especially when she got out of her cage to roam around the house. She came with John to Edmond, OK and survived 18 years. John buried her in the family's back yard and purchased a miniature engraved gravestone to mark the site. His interest in critters led him to the saving the lives of many turtles from our neighborhood pond. Youngsters fishing in the pond would snag the turtles then cut the fishing line leaving hooks in their jaws. John took on the job of surgically removing these hooks and returning the critters to the pond. This became a lifelong pattern with wildlife and passed on to his children.
As a teenager, John became intrigued with silk-screen printing on textiles. He began printing at home at the age of 14. He served an apprenticeship at a commercial screen printer in Oklahoma City while in high school and was later employed as a manager at Beck and Sadler Sportswear in Edmond. He struck out on his own and founded ACME T-Shirt Company in Edmond, Oklahoma in 1999, first operating out of his converted garage. When growing pains forced him to move, he established the business on Wimbledon Road in Edmond in 2001 where it has thrived to this day.
John graduated from Edmond Memorial High School in 1989. He married his high school sweetheart Christina Jaynes on June 1, 1991 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
He is survived by his wife, Christina, son Jonathan "Blake" Butler, daughter Emma Grace Butler and son Ashton Paul Butler, his parents Myron and Noreen Butler of Edmond, brother Greg Butler of Front Royal, Virginia, brother Aaron Butler of Edmond, OK, sister Jodi Warner of Knoxville, TN, sister Kristin Davis of Edmond, OK and sister Ann Marie Hagy of Pottsboro, TX.
John was born again and baptized in 1982. His special humor was a joy to his family & friends.

The memorial service will be held in the Chapel at Crossings Community Church, 14600 Portland Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73134 on Monday, June 8 th at 2:00.
