John David Ellis

1938-2016

John David Ellis (Dave) of Edmond, Oklahoma was born on May 5, 1938, in Oklahoma City, to John Henry and Minnie Lee Ellis. On September 8, 2016 he passed away peacefully at home at the age of 78 after battling cancer. Dave was a kind, generous and encouraging Christian man. He loved spending time with his family, fishing for salmon in Alaska, woodworking, serving at the Lighthouse Medical Clinic in Oklahoma City, and medical mission trips to Guatemala with Health Talents International.

Dave was a member of Memorial Road Church of Christ and served on the missions committee. He graduated from Abilene Christian University in 1961 and the University of New Mexico in 1967. He worked for Abbott Laboratories for 27 years and was District Sales Manager for 20 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents John Henry & Minnie Lee Ellis. He is survived by his loving wife Shirlie of 55 years; 4 daughters, Gaymarie Williamson and her husband, Chad of Castle Pines, Colorado; Tricia Elkinton and her husband, Steve of Gurnee, Illinois; Trevy Rauch and her husband, Darren of Edmond, Oklahoma and Stacey Wolfe and her husband, Wade of Edmond, Oklahoma; 8 grandchildren ; Bailey Williamson, Dylan Williamson, Justin Elkinton, Jordan Elkinton, Jack Elkinton, Kalyn Rauch, Trevor Rauch and Cole Wolfe; his sister, Loy Jean Fiske of Broomfield, Colorado and many other family members and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 12, 2016 at Matthews Funeral Home from 6:00pm to 8:00 pm. A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 am, Tuesday, September 13 , 2016 at Memorial Road Church of Christ followed by interment at Memorial Park Cemetery.
