John “Buddy” Hannon, 82, went to be with the Lord on February 16, 2026. Born on April 26, 1943, in Lawton, he was the son of Marjorie Ann (Ferguson) and Buddy Hannon.
Buddy grew up alongside his three sisters, Judy, Ann and Beverly, sharing a lifelong bond built on love, laughter and loyalty. A gifted athlete, he graduated from Midwest City High School, earning a baseball scholarship to Connors State College where he helped lead the team to the 1962 Junior College World Series with a record of 10-2 on the mound. After completing 2 years at Connors State, he transferred to New Mexico State University, completing two additional years of collegiate play.
On August 2, 1963, Buddy married the love of his life, Janice. Their 62 years of marriage were a testament to enduring love, partnership and unwavering commitment. In 1966, Buddy was drafted into the United States Army and served honorably, including time stationed in Germany. While overseas, he and Janice welcomed their first child, Sherry, marking the beginning of the family that became the center of his world.
He was baptized at Oakcrest Church of Christ.
Buddy is survived by his devoted wife, Janice; his daughter Sherry her husband Travis their children Dalton his wife Chloe and Shyann; his daughter Janette her husband Beaul their children Payton, Nolan, Zayn, Cayden; and his son John his wife Belinda their children Halle, Kendall and Rylee; and his sister, Ann. He was also a proud great grandfather to Dawsyn and Corbyn. His family was his greatest joy and proudest accomplishment.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marjorie and Buddy Hannon and his two sisters, Judy and Beverly.
Known for his steady strength, integrity and generous heart, Buddy lived a life defined by service, loyalty and deep love for his family. He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In lieu of flowers the family asks donations to be made to the Luther Community Service Center, P.O. Box 321, Luther, OK 73054.
Public visitation will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond, OK.
Services will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Road Church of Christ, 2221 E Memorial Rd, Edmond, OK 73013. Interment is to be held on February 20, 2026, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Arlington Memory Gardens, 3400 N Midwest Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK 73141.
