John D. “Jake” Briscoe

John D (Jake) Briscoe, 93 years old, resident of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away April 24, 2019 in Oklahoma City. He was born February 11, 1926 in Deer Creek of Edmond, Oklahoma to John M Briscoe and Bertha Keefer, who preceded him in death. He was the oldest of four boys, Harold, George, and Bert. He married his high school sweetheart Betty J Boling Briscoe July 17, 1947, in El Reno OK. To this union they had four wonderful children, Donna Briscoe Bigbee and husband Tom, Carl and Kathy Briscoe, Jerry and Stacey Briscoe, and Jim and Suzanne Briscoe.

He is survived by his wife and children, as well as his eight grandchildren, Marsha and Brad Gleichman, Angela and Greg Hallett, Sarah Briscoe, Jill and Chad Dugan, Russ Briscoe, Isaac and Tenley Mitropoulos, Lindsey and Jeff Hedstrand, and Kelly and Troy Bolser, and sixteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, brother Harold, and two sisters-in-law, Judy Briscoe and Betty L. Briscoe. He lived his whole life in Deer Creek, served on the Deer Creek school board for many years, and was a lifelong farmer.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 28 from 4:00 to 6:00 at Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond.

Funeral Services will be held at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel in Edmond on  Monday, April 29 at 10:00 AM, followed by graveside services at Whisler Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Dr. Bondurant and Dana, Dr. Williams, Dr. Fixley, the nurses and staff at Oklahoma Heart Hospital, and the Integris Hospice House. A special thanks to Providence Home Health care and his special caregivers Kim and Trisha. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
