John “Kevin” Bowman, 62, left the playing field on March 16, 2026, in Oklahoma City, OK, surrounded by family and friends. Kevin was born on June 22, 1963, in Bluffton, IN. He was a current resident of Edmond Oklahoma, where the family had moved to offer better opportunities for academics and softball for his daughter. He was the son of Joyce Parker Bowman Sharp and John William Bowman. Kevin was the oldest living child from their union. In his early years he was raised in Indiana where he found his love of the Indiana Hoosiers and strong dislike for the Purdue Boilermakers. After the divorce of his parents, Joyce moved the family to Dierks, Arkansas to be near her family. Kevin graduated from Dierks High School where he showed strong academic skills as well as athletic skills. He attended the University of Arkansas but did not complete his degree.
Kevin worked many jobs throughout his life and was always a hard worker. This skill was taught to him by his stepdad, William Sharp. His most recent occupation was a salesman for Contractors Supply Company, where he used his excellent people skills, which means he had the gift of gab. He used this skill to help elevate himself to be the top salesman over all stores within Hessel Holding Company. He treated all customers the same, it did not matter whether they were buying a box of screws or a thousand-dollar tool.
In Kevin’s spare time, he watched any sporting event, from basketball, football, softball, golf, baseball, or car racing. In slow times he was even known to watch a curling match. His favorite player was his daughter Jordan. She was his favorite left-handed pitcher and loved watching her play. He was proud of her accomplishments, especially when she was selected to the All-State Team in high school. When Jordan’s softball career was over, you could find him at home in his recliner watching his favorite teams. Depending on the season, that could be the Dallas Cowboys, Indiana Hoosiers, Arkansas Razorbacks, Chicago Cubs and pretty much any softball game…as he was addicted to the sport.
Kevin married Wendy Bartley, but they divorced after a few years. No children came from this union. Kevin then married Belinda Sue Bobbitt on October 2, 1993. He believed October 2nd was a lucky day as his Mamaw and Papaw Parker were married on this date and enjoyed a long loving marriage. Kevin and Belinda have one child, a daughter, Jordan Alexandria Bowman.
Kevin was preceded in death by his mother Joyce Parker Bowman Sharp, his father John William Bowman and 2 older siblings who died in infancy, Jimmy Ray and Cynthia Ann Bowman. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Belinda of the home, his daughter Jordan Bowman of Edmond, 1 brother Keith Bowman and family of Mustang, Oklahoma, 2 sisters, Julie Bowman and Tiawana Sharp Rouse both of Dierks, Arkansas, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
