Edmond

Johnie Foster Meeker left this world peacefully on February 11, 2026 (his 87th birthday), surrounded by his loving family at his home in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Johnie was born on February 11, 1939, in Braggs, Oklahoma, the son of Foster Meeker and Pauline Kiespert. Being the youngest of 4 children, he always lightened the mood with his practical jokes and ready wit.

Johnie grew up in Edmond, where he developed a strong work ethic and a deep love for his family. His love of sports was evident early on. He played football for Edmond Memorial High School, playing in the championship game at the OU Sooner stadium. After graduating he joined the National Guard, serving in the 179th Infantry, from June 1958 until March 1960. He was stationed both in Louisiana and Ft. Hood, Texas. Johnie was a noted, senior wireman and sharpshooter. Later, he went on to pursue a career at Kimray, working to develop and produce valves in the oil and gas industries. He retired after 31 years, keeping busy with his many hobbies and family.

Johnie was married to Carlene on November 27, 1959. A loving husband and father, he was a pillar of strength and support for his family. Together, they raised two daughters: Tranna and Djuna. He was a devoted father, always there to offer guidance, love, and a hearty laugh. He cherished family gatherings, especially if they involved Sooner sports. His presence at holidays and celebrations brought warmth and joy to those around him.

Johnie had many passions in life, including Sooner football and softball, youth and church softball, metal art, Cherokee news, bird-watching, and the Reader’s Digest. Coaching Little League baseball and various softball teams solidified his impact on the community. One of his fondest memories was cheering for his grandson during his baseball career. He loved being able to share his interests with his children, grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carlene, his children, Tranna and Djuna, 7 grandchildren, and multitude of great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss him dearly.

Rest in peace, Johnie. Your memory will live on in our hearts forever.
