Juanita Ann Lindsey Bowling

1937-2018

Juanita Ann Lindsey Bowling (April 23, 1937) went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ and her late husband, Joe, on December 26, 2018.  Her family and dear friends will lovingly remember her as a beautiful mother, doting grandmother, and a giving and gracious friend. Born and raised in Memphis, TN, she married the love of her life, "Jodie," at the age of 18. They were married for 61 years. Juanita was the consummate Southern Lady: a gracious hostess, excellent cook, faithful church member, and fashionista.  She was known for her thoughtfulness, displayed best by her faithful "Hallmark Ministry" of sending cards and notes on every possible occasion to each person she knew and loved. She and Joe traveled the world with friends and created many wonderful memories and anecdotes that will bring laughter and joy to their family for years to come.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, J. and Effie Lindsey; her husband, Joseph W. Bowling; and her sister, Imogene Fletcher. She is survived by her three children: Debbie Bowling Denton (Dale) of Enid, OK; Denise Bowling Griffin (Mike) of Edmond, OK; and Dale Bowling (Janine) of Saginaw, TX. She leaves a legacy of six grandchildren: Patrick Denton; Lindsey Denton Murphy; Taylor Griffin; Madison Griffin Eramo; Grant Griffin; and Paige Bowling, as well as nine great-grandchildren, who lovingly knew her as "Nana." She also leaves behind her beloved "sister-cousin," Anita Russell (Bill) of Little Rock, Arkansas, with whom she shared countless childhood memories; her dear sister-in-law, Ann Rose of Highlands, NC; and a heritage of nieces and nephews from Hawaii to Georgia.

A Memorial Service will be held in the chapel of Crossings Community Church, Oklahoma City, OK on Saturday, January 5th at 10:00 am. Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond, OK is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to the Alzheimer's Association.

"So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most."

Hebrews 4:16
