Judith Ann Miller Fichtner Martin Stringer was born in Alison Park, a suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on May 14th of 1935. She passed at Saddlebrook Memory Care on February 9th of 2026, at 90 years of age. She lived and grew up in Pittsburgh, specifically in the famous Modernist/International Style homes of Swan Acres, designed by famed designer Quentin Beck. The Miller and Goetz families lived close together and it created a wonderful environment for all of those creative cousins to flourish. Judith was the eldest daughter of 3 children, whose parents were William and Katherine Miller. She was followed in birth by Carl Wallace (dec) and Nancy Lynne. She is survived by ex-husbands Earl Fichtner and Jerry Martin, father to eldest daughter Susan Lynne Danke and son Bruce Richard Martin. She is preceded in death by ex-husband Bruce Stringer, father to daughter Heather Leahanne Martin. She is also survived by her grandchildren Adam Martin and Stephanie Martin, and great-grandchildren Braxton and Tucker.
Judith received a BA in Music at Bethany College in West Virginia. She was active in choir throughout her life and played accompaniment whenever possible. She played piano and owned an organ which she played until her hands wouldn’t let her. She said she would have sung until her voice gave out. Today she is singing with the sacred choir. She was an avid reader and crossword puzzler. She was a member of the church choir in, likely, every church she attended but called home to the 1st Presbyterian Church in Edmond for over 30 years. She drove her infamous taxi-yellow Ford Ranger Splash all over town and especially to church. She was always dressed up and at the church early; she liked for people to get down to business when it was time. She set a good example and at 5’2” she was usually right up front with the sopranos. Her social life was choir, and she dearly loved many member she sang with over the years.
Her work life was very colorful and various from manual phone operator, to Zoo docent which was probably her favorite, to running a veterinary business, to finally being a customer service rep at a dry cleaners just up the street before she retired. She lived in Edmond from 1995 until 2025, a proud community member. She donated to Smile Train and Habitat for Humanity. She visited the zoo, the Omniplex and other local museums. She loved reading and watched Jeopardy and shows about nature. She enjoyed having a simple independent life and we tried to give that to her for as long as possible.
