Karen Leonard
1951-2014
Karen Leonard, born November 9, 1951 in Baton Rouge, LA to John G. and Juanita Devine, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 12, 2014, after two times defeating cancer. After graduating E
dmond High School, Karen went on to Central State University, where she met and married Kenny Leonard in July of 1972.
She was a stay at home mom for 15 years while raising her two children, Dustin and Heather. She also worked in banking and was a Medical Assistant for 20 years. Karen loved crossword puzzles, cross-stitching, the outdoors, attending OU football games and watching Thunder basketball. Karen loved her two precious grandchildren and was looking forward to her third.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Edmond. Preceded in death by her parents, survived by husband Kenny of Edmond, daughter Heather and husband Joey Rushing of Yukon, son Dustin of OKC, grandchildren Tatum Rushing and Jantzen Leonard, sister-in-law Judi Doerr of Edmond, and many more friends and family. Karen had a zest for life, an enormous passion for those she loved and fought with amazing courage and strength. She was loved by many and will be missed, but not forgotten. Donations can be made to the American Lung Cancer Society.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 15, 2013 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Edmond with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
