Kathleen Dean was born on April 28, 1946, to Grady Wright and Alyene McDowell Wright in Walters, Oklahoma. She was the third of four children and loved and adored her siblings: her brother, Robert Wright and wife, Pam, and her sisters, Betty Louise and Dottie Sue.
Kathy attended Chattanooga Schools and graduated in 1964. She later attended Cameron University. On January 21, 1965, she was united in marriage to Larry Dean of Manitou, Oklahoma. Together, they had three children: Lana Dean of Edmond, Oklahoma; Dusty Dean of Crescent, Oklahoma; and Cody Dean and wife, Brooke of Edmond, Oklahoma.
She was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren: Logan Williams, Landon Williams, Alexis Williams, Katelyn Pickett, Dillon Dean, Bridget Dean, Tanner Dean, Presley Dean, and Cash Dean. She was also blessed with six great-granddaughters and one more on the way: Casidee Dean, Rose Williams, Remy Smith, Gigi Smith, Liza Williams, and Jolie Williams. Kathy also dearly loved all of her cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Kathy was a meek and mild woman — always quiet, with a warm and gentle smile. She worked in many different fields throughout her life, including as a reporter for The Frederick Press, and most recently in hospitality at Tinker Air Force Base. She loved working and treasured the people she met through each job.
She was an avid supporter of her children and deeply loved attending their sporting events and spending time around horses. In 1982, the family moved to Edmond, Oklahoma, where all three children attended Deer Creek Schools. Kathy spent many hours on the baseball and football fields cheering on both of her boys.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Grady and Alyene Wright; her brother, Robert Wright; her sister, Betty Gass; her great-granddaughter, Gigi (Gianna Grace) Smith; and her nephew, Ricky Hutson.
Kathy lived a very full life and lived it with passion. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.
