Kathryn Kunc
1921-2016
Kathryn Kerr Kunc was born 2-6-21 in McCloud, Oklahoma and died 2-14-2016 in Edmond. She fought to the last breath to stay with her daughter and fulfill the goal she had set for herself –to live past 100. She is survived by her daughter Brenda Brown-Canary Lawson and son-in-law, John, and three grandchildren, Gary Canary, David and wife Anita Canary, Helen Canary Grace, Kathryn also had six great grandchildren, Kyle and wife Amber, Jason and wife Rachel, Cody, Lucas and Sophia Canary and John Robert and wife Linda Zimmerman. She enjoyed 8 great great grandchildren, Johnnie, Makenzie, Kylee, Lacie, mason, Jaxon Canary and Porter and Scarlett Zimmerman. Kathryn also welcomed her first husband's grandson, Shae Brown and his son Bryson Brown into her family. The University of Central Oklahoma occupied her whole life. She attended school in Old North Tower Kindergarten through college and taught at Central a total of 52 years. She served 15 years as head of the Art Department. She could not travel anywhere in the U.S. without former students coming up to her, most of the time she could call them by name.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 19, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Gracelawn Cemetery.
