Kenneth Wayne Sipes – Edmond, OK
After battling Alzheimer's Disease for over 7-years, Kenneth Wayne Sipes peacefully passed from this life in his home on Monday, February 21, 2023. Born August 23, 1939, in Oklahoma City, Kenny was the youngest of four children. He came to know the Britton area as "home." He graduated from John Marshall High School in 1957, where he met Mary Ann Latimer in chorus class, and they were married in August of that year. They would achieve nearly 64-years of marriage. After working several years as a cost accountant, Kenny became self-employed and developed a successful marketing business. He and Mary Ann were often called on to provide motivational speaking, giving insights into how others could develop such business. Kenny enjoyed a variety of music and playing Boogie-Woogie tunes on the piano. He was a classic car enthusiast, having owned a variety of beautiful classic American convertibles. Kenny was outgoing and often used his sense of humor as the means of getting to know people. He loved spending time with his immediate family. Kenny and Mary Ann moved to Edmond in 1994. He read the Bible and his newspaper each morning and was a longtime supporter of the In Search ministry and a faithful member of the Edmond Church of Christ. Kenny was preceded in death by wife, Mary Ann, his parents Ed and Mae Sipes, sister Alverta Haff and her husband Gene, sister June Marie Sipes, all of Oklahoma City, brother Keith Sipes and his wife Barbara of Edmond, and pre-mature infant grandsons Jason and Rusty Bowen. Kenny is survived by daughter Debra Sipes Rigsby, her husband Phil, grandson Shelby Rigsby, all of Edmond, sister-in-law Sandra Hart and husband Gary of Edmond, sister-in-law Linda Ryser of Oklahoma City, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 12-5 p.m., Sunday, February 26, 2023 at Matthews Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 27, 2023 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City, OK.
