Kent Gregory Miller

Kent Gregory Miller, Sr., 89, of Edmond, Okla., died on Aug. 31, 2026.

He was born in Fort Wayne, Ind., on May 8, 1937, to Clifford Cleo Miller and Cora Janet (Kaufman) Miller, and he was a lifelong sports fanatic. Kent attended high school in Marion, Ind., where he played baseball and was a sportswriter for his high school newspaper. He then studied psychology at Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Ind., where he earned a bachelor’s degree. He then entered service in the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in Germany in the 1950s working on the Redstone missile program. After his honorable discharge in 1959, he met his wife, Sharyn Brewer of Hot Springs, Ark., while both were working in Chicago, and they were married in 1966. With Sharyn he has two sons, Kent Gregory Miller Jr. and Mark Andrew Miller. He later earned a master’s degree in accounting from DePaul University in Chicago and became a CPA. His work as an accountant took his family to Columbus, Ind., in the 1970s, where he was chief financial officer for Repp and Mundt Construction. He and his family settled for good in Edmond, Okla., in 1984, when he was hired as CFO for Timberlake Construction. He later operated his business, Kent Miller, CPA, in Edmond for many years before his semi-retirement in 1997, fully retiring in 2005.

Kent was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Janet Miller, and his older brother, Clifford L. Miller. Kent is survived by his wife, Sharyn Miller of Edmond, his son Greg Miller (Laura Rasmussen Miller) of Edmond and their children Colin, Sophie and Scarlett; his son Mark Miller (Renee Orcutt Miller) of Oklahoma City and their children Cade and Hudson.

He will be remembered by his family for his sharp wit and his love of sports, especially Indiana University Hoosiers basketball, Cincinnati Reds baseball, and the Chicago Bears.

Kent’s family will have a private memorial service.
